Kathryn Adams
KATHRYN ADAMS graduated from Alfred University in 2011. Post graduation attended Penland School of Crafts which introduced her to the Western North Carolina thriving art community.
Presently dedicated to being a full time glass artist. She is passionate about working with clients to create custom glass to please and inspire their living space. Adams focuses mostly on lighting and other decorative elements.
Artist Statement:
“My work is an exploration of the tension between the surface and the layers underneath.
In my wanderings as a student of material, I search for ways to represent the abstract and ephemeral. I am inspired by the the unending variations of sunsets, streams and shadows. I attempt to capture an educated guess of those liminal moments by reading and reacting to a thorough and arduous color application.
By contrasting the fundamental qualities of the material, with simple forms and delicate layered composition, I hope to draw the viewer into a meditation on time and self."
